Below the Headwall

fishook_arete_face2.jpg (25577 bytes) Here John is climbing some slabs below the headwall that has the distinctive chimney.  The belay is at the top of the slab.  You can get to this by running out the slab or going left at a final crack that can be down-climbed and traversed behind the slab.   To minimize rope drag and have comfortable belays, I did a very short pitch around some boulders and then John led the section up to the base of the chimney.
